Progressive Housing Inc is Hiring a Registered Nurse (Trainer) Near Mount Vernon, IL

Serving Mt. Vernon, Woodlawn and Aviston, Illinois, Progressive is looking for a RN Trainer to work as part of a collaborative team providing quality services to adults with disabilities.

Job Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Client Records to include comprehensive review of client records monthly as well as filing of client records
  • Develop a tracking system to ensure that all required examinations are performed within 14 days of the due date
  • Writes monthly nursing notes summarizing the client's health and issues reported
  • Ensures physician orders are carried out and medications are ordered
  • Quality assurance
  • Assist in development of Q.A. tools for the DD population
  • Perform 2 Q. A. studies per month (minimum), one of which addresses medication errors
  • Review all new admissions, readmissions, hospitalizations, ER visits, discharges and deaths from the previous consultation period for appropriateness and completeness of the data in the record
  • Complete assessments for self-medication programs and/or review those written by others
  • Write self-medication programs and/or review those written by others
  • Review self-medication programs quarterly
  • Monitor at least 1 medication pass per month to assure that staff is following approved techniques. Monitors a day, evening, and nigh shift medication pass every quarter
  • Reviews medications quarterly to assure that there are supporting diagnoses, dosage is within acceptable range, and there are no serious adverse reactions
  • Review M.A.R.'s monthly to assure that documentation is complete
  • Follow all requirements as set out by the rule governing the "Delegation of Administration of Medications" (IDHS Administrative Rule 116)
  • Teach the initial and annual "Delegation of Administration of Medications" program to direct care staff meeting the criteria following the state approved curriculum
  • Complete the initial nursing history as part of the admission process
  • Complete quarterly physical assessments on all clients
  • Assessment of communicable disease, prevention and follow-up as necessary
  • Provide nursing input into the IDT process on a timely basis
  • Provide immunizations to staff as needed
  • Participate in annual and special staffing's for clients with medical needs at the request of the Director of Operations.
  • General duties
  • Provide education to all staff in regards to clients' medical/nursing needs
  • Direct contact with physicians as needed
  • Assist with development of policies and procedures as needed
  • Keep self-educated on current nursing practices and issues through reading, seminars, conferences, and symposiums
  • Attend conventions and educational seminars as directed by supervisor
  • Assist with identification of annual fiscal needs of the nursing department
  • Establish weekly oral communication with supervisor and written monthly communication
  • Supervise and assist with evaluation of DSP’s assigned to each location
  • On call for medical emergencies and consultation

Requirements:

Education: Registered Nurse with a current license in Illinois. Completion of the DHS approved "Nurse Trainer" program to be completed within 60 days after hire.

Experience:

At least 2 years of clinical nursing practice within the past 5 years. Prefer clinical nursing to be in the field of developmental disabilities. Demonstrated ability to lead and direct others
